We’re seeking an experienced Bus Mechanic to join our Maintenance Department as a Mechanic III!
Position Overview: A Mechanic III is considered a maintenance expert and is tasked with completing all preventative maintenance, and diagnosing and completing repairs of Company owned vehicles without supervision.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent required.
– 10+ years of diesel engine repair experience required.
– Technical degree in diesel and industrial technology (or similar focus) preferred.
– Department of Transportation (DOT) inspection certification required.
– HVAC certification required.
– Engine and transmission certifications or equivalent experience required.
– Applicable manufacturers’ certifications required.
– Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and state/local Department of Transportation rules/regulations preferred.
– Proficiency in engine/transmission diagnostic software programs.
– Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement preferred.
– Excellent/professional written and oral communication skills required.
– Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
– Rolling tool box and/or cart with tool kit required; must include the following:
o 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2″ standard/shallow/deep drive socket sets, 3/8”-1 1/4” standard and 6mm-26mm metric combination wrench sets, wrenches, Allen wrench sets, torque wrench set, pliers, vise grips, files, screwdrivers, ball peen and rubber/plastic hammers, punch and chisel set, digital multi-meter, flash light, cordless drill/impact driver, drill bit set, extractor set, etc.

Responsibilities
- Completes preventative maintenance tasks under direct supervision to include: visual inspections, testing, disassembly, reassembly, adjustments, parts removal and replacement, internal or external repairs, completion of oil changes, replacement of filters, belts and hoses, etc.
- Executes repair of vehicle systems under direct supervision to include: diesel and gasoline engines, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical systems, heating ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), vehicle interiors, wheels and tires, sewage waste collection.
- Reviews Electronic Vehicle Inspection Record (EVIR) system for outstanding defects on Company vehicles; complete repairs as qualified and/or addresses defects in system.
- Reviews Services Due sheet; completes repairs as qualified.
- Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) annual vehicle inspections, once certified (must be certified within two years of hire).
- Assists Motorcoach Operators with vehicle maintenance related questions and needs.
- Answers maintenance phone, responding to and/or facilitating response to any maintenance need/request.
- Responds to basic road failures: tires, belts, coolant hoses, etc.
Physical Demands
May include lifting up to 75 pounds, and push/pull up to 50 lbs. Team Member is required to sit, walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, lift, reach, and stand.
